More Foundation

They put in the concrete blocks and it looks as if they will be putting the plumbing in this week. At first, when they had the house staked off with just string, it looked so tiny! Now that they actually have it dug out and have the concrete blocks showing where everything will be, it looks as if it takes up the entire lot. It's hard to tell anything until there are actual walls. However, it's fun imagining what it will all look like when it is finished.

Foundation

They have officially "broke ground" on our house! They started on the foundation. We've been told that the foundation process is timely, due to all of the inspections and such. However, the builder said that after the foundation is complete the building process will speed up significantly.

It's so exciting to go out to our neighborhood and watch as our house takes shape. There are three other houses going up right around us and another river lot is currently under contract. We've met a few of our neighbors-to-be and they seem to be really nice. The couple that lives across the street from us are BIG Clemson fans. That must be a good sign, right!!!

Here are a few pictures of what they have done thus far on the foundation. Not much to see, but it's progress, none the less!

Where to put the house? Trees?

Our latest with the house has been deciding on where to place the house on the lot. Since our garage will be side-entry, we will have a driveway on the right side of the house. Richard will also need a little extra room so that he can back both the boat and the truck into the garage without any difficulties. They staked the house out last week and we went to look at it on Sunday. We decided that it needed to move a little to the left, which meant taking out a few more trees. :( We also had to decide which trees we wanted to get rid of down at the River. What a hard decision! We like the trees, but we don't want them to obstruct our view either. That being said, Richard decided that since we are going to be so far up that most of the trees had to go so that we would have a spectacular view of the water!

They are supposed to start digging next week! We should start to make a little more daily progress. Now it's time for the fun to begin!!!!
